WALKING IN CHRIST

Rev. Governor September 21, 2025 4 min read
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.(Colossians 2:6-7)

The Spirit's instruction in the above verses is important. He gives us the blue print for our fruitful and pleasant walk in Christ. Walking in Christ means allowing the living Christ to express His life through you. Few thoughts expressed in the above with regards to how to walk in Christ include;

1.Walk in Him by faith.

Our walk is a walk of faith. 2Corinthians 5:7 says 'For we walk by faith, not by sight:. This is important. Our life is a faith life. God dealt with us the measure of faith at our salvation, and expects us to continue the life so by faith.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Living by faith means accepting wholeheartedly the realities of your salvation as revealed in God's Word. It also means, without doubt, approving of what the Word says you are, have, and can do, no matter what the contrary winds portray. It is a life of rest on the Word, even if you 'perish, you perish!'.

2. Be rooted and built up in Him.

 Being rooted and built up in him is not just a passive activity, otherwise, He wouldn't tell the Thessalonians to abound in Him, more and more.

1 Thessalonians 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

You come to place, where you learned, and keep learning about Christ till Christ is formed in you to be fruitful in the kingdom. Intentionally living for God and His kingdom purposes, by will. No one reminds you of sponsoring the gospel, attending fellowship meeting, winning souls, studying your Bible, praying etc.

Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,..

It is important to make yourself available, through a careful guidance by the Holy Spirit, to be taught by the ministry gifts God put in His Church.

Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Our Christian growth is tied to continual learning, and relearning. By that, God can depend on you as a conduit to express himself to a dying world.

We shall continue with this later...

Let us pause here and reflect. Read this again.

Let's pray:

Dear Father, as I have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so I walk in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as I have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. I remain stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as I know that my labour is not in vain in the Lord, in JESUS' Name. Blessed be God. Amen.

Please, share.
