Power to Live
*"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."* - C.S. Lewis
*Power to Live*
Psalms 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 34:12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Isn't it amazing, how that you can learn everyday from the Bible, something helpful to guide your own way and life in life? Amazing indeed!
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
The opening verse is one of David's song of praise and trust, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech (1Samuel 21).
Few things David listed and instructed those who;
➡️ Desired life
➡️ Love many days
➡️. Love to see good (prosperity) are:
1. Keep your tongue from evil and prevent it from speaking guile (shrewdness demonstrated by being skillful in deceit)
2. Depart from evil
3. Do good
4. Seek peace and pursue it.
These are very important thoughts. Let us look at one or two.
*1.Keep your tongue from evil and prevent it from speaking guile.*
Your tongue is one of the
powerful elements of your body. The tongue is your gustatory organ made up of a mobile mass of muscular tissue covered with mucous membrane located in your oral cavity. Apart from serving as the main bowl in your mouth that carries food temporary and do many other things, it helps you to articulate speech.
Speech is very important in transmitting life or death.
Matthew 26:73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
Mark 14:70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Your words form your speech. The goal of your speech should enhance understanding. Understanding what you speak, knowing its import on yourself and that of others determines whether you are creating life (making impart) or causing destruction.
The question is, which words are you speaking today? Life? Death? Destruction? Hope? Faith? Love? Choose.
